Our treatment approach
We use a variety of techniques to reach individual goals. Our treatments are tailored to the needs of our patient. We take into consideration the patients diagnosis, age, medical history and cultural background. We aim to make it clear as to why we perform certain techniques and the effects it has on the body.
At Nexus we are structural or direct Osteopaths. This means that we go towards the pain, and there may be some discomfort felt during your consultation. We constantly ask for patient feedback and remain within the patients pain threshold.

Soft Tissue Massage
Soft tissue massage is employed to alleviate muscle tension and improve circulation. By applying pressure and various strokes, this technique aims to enhance flexibility, reduce muscle soreness, and promote overall relaxation.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release targets the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles. It aims to release tension, improve flexibility, and enhance overall tissue mobility.
Harmonics
Harmonics, an indirect technique, uses rhythmic, gentle movements to encourage the body's natural healing processes. It promotes relaxation and improves overall well-being.
Lymphatic Treatment
Lymphatic treatment focuses on promoting lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling and improve immune function. Techniques include gentle manual lymphatic drainage to encourage fluid movement.
Articulation
Articulation involves gently moving joints through their natural range, enhancing mobility and reducing stiffness. This technique is beneficial for improving joint function without high-velocity thrusts.
Muscle Energy Technique
Muscle energy technique involves the patient's active participation in contractions against resistance to restore balance and improve joint function. It is effective for addressing muscle imbalances and joint restrictions.
Balanced Ligamentous Tension
Balanced ligamentous tension involves gentle, indirect techniques to restore balance in ligaments, promoting joint stability and reducing strain.
Visceral Manipulation Techniques
Visceral manipulation involves gentle, hands-on techniques to improve the mobility and function of internal organs. It aims to address restrictions and enhance overall organ health.
Joint Manipulation
Joint manipulation involves quick, controlled thrusts to joints, restoring normal range of motion. This technique is valuable for addressing joint dysfunction, reducing pain, and improving joint function.
Stretching
Stretching is crucial for enhancing flexibility, range of motion, and preventing injuries. This technique is customised to target specific muscle groups, promoting optimal muscle length and joint mobility.
Electrotherapy
Electrotherapy, with or without electrical dry needle stimulation, is used to manage pain and enhance tissue healing. By applying electrical currents, this technique can modulate nerve signals, reduce inflammation, and stimulate muscle contractions for improved function.
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)
Emitting gentle electrical pulses through skin pads, this non-invasive approach alleviates pain, reduces muscle tension, and stimulates natural healing. The TENS machine enhances blood circulation, promotes relaxation, and contributes to the overall effectiveness of your osteopathic treatment for optimal outcomes.
Beyond Treatment
At Nexus, we go beyond traditional osteopathic techniques by creating personalised rehabilitation plans with active patient involvement.
We prioritise patients' preferences, ensuring exercises align with their enjoyment, such as incorporating activities like walking with kids.
This collaborative approach fosters a positive and sustainable health journey, empowering patients to take an active role in their well-being.
All osteopaths treat slightly differently, if you have been to another practitioner in the past, know that we will all achieve results in a slightly different way.
Trust the process.
Dry Needling
Dry needling involves inserting thin needles into trigger points, releasing tension and promoting blood flow. This technique is effective in addressing muscle knots, reducing pain, and facilitating the body's natural healing response. We also offer facial dry needling, providing unique benefits for facial muscle tension, overall relaxation, and potential relief for sinus-related discomfort.
Rigid Taping and Kinesiology Taping
Taping techniques provide support to injured areas, reduce inflammation, and enhance proprioception. Rigid taping offers stability, while kinesiology taping supports movement without restricting range
Counter Strain
Counter strain is a gentle technique involving positioning the affected area in a comfortable position, alleviating strain on injured tissues. It promotes relaxation and reduces muscle spasms.
Myofascial Cupping
Myofascial cupping techniques involve creating suction on the skin to improve blood flow and release muscle tension. Pump-handle cupping is effective for broader areas, while fire-cupping uses heated cups for localised treatment.
